Enjoy A Free Jazz Concert At Tenafly Library

TENAFLY, N.J. — The Mel Nusbaum Jazz Quartet is coming to the Tenafly Public Library on the afternoon of Oct. 25.

The quartet concert featuring Mel Nusbaum on piano, Tim Armacost on sax and flute, Mike Richmond on bass, and Eliot Zigmund on drums is sponsored by the Friends of the Tenafly Library as part of the Murray Slochover Jazz Concert Series.

The group plays creative, rhythmic music, including favorite jazz standards, blues, ballads, funk, fusion, and original tunes.

Nusbaum is a veteran musician on both guitar and piano. He is a versatile and inventive player who has collaborated with many of the very best musicians on the jazz scene today.

A Grammy-nominated artist, Armacost has worked with many jazz greats, including Al Foster, Jimmy Cobb, Kenny Barron, Tom Harrell, Billy Hart, Victor Lewis, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Peter Erskine, Ray Drummond, Roy Hargrove, Don Friedman and Randy Brecker. H

Richmond has been featured on over 250 recordings (12 solo) and has recorded and performed internationally with Miles Davis, Quincy Jones, Dizzy Gillespie, Bobby McFerrin, Ravi Shankar, Stan Getz, Henry Mancini, Richie Havens, Liberace, and Tony Orlando. He has won Grammy Awards with Miles Davis, Quincy Jones, and the Philadelphia Orchestra.

Zigmund has been a professional musician for over 50 years, growing up and learning to play in New York City. He is an internationally known jazz drummer who has performed with many jazz greats over the years including Bill Evans, Michel Petrucciani, Lee Konitz, Stan Getz, Jim Hall and many others.

The concert runs from 2 to 3 p.m. at the library, 100 Riveredge Road.
